Sustainable Management of Land Use and Energy Supply on a Community Level. Implementation for the Model Region of Ahrweiler
By 2050 total of 60% of the gross energy consumption should be supplied by renewable energy in Germany. The share of regenerative energies in power generation should even reach 80 per-cent; that is the planned target of the German federal government’s energy concept. The necessary expansion of regenerative energy sources has consequences for land use. In the communities there is no lack of motivation or ambitious goals –but there is a need for methods and ideas for implementation. The Innovation Group enAHRgie is therefore developing based on the example of the rural region of Ahrweiler in Rheinland-Palatinate a holistic concept for a sustainable land use focusing on energy supply.
